Book Review- Fearless by Max Lucado

Fearless by Max Lucado is an extremely good book. It is well written with lots of biblical passages, chock full of wisdom and with just the right amount of wit, he takes today’s relevant fears and lays them bare before the scriptures. Max systematically explores the different things we are afraid of and refutes those fears with the Word of God. He peppers in heartwarming stories and funny narratives making it an easy read. It begins by explaining what fear is, and how it leads to sin. He tells us “When fear shapes our lives, safety becomes our god. When safety becomes our god, we worship the risk free life. Can the safety lover do anything great?” He also informs us that fear causes us to question God’s character and His plans for our lives. By using the scriptures to refute our fears Max shows us how to live fear free and faith filled lives; the lives that Christ ultimately came to give us. Included in the book is a discussion section that is great for small groups or couples. If you’ve ever been afraid to step out into the life God has called you to, this is the book for you!
